FAQs
What is P.O.D.?
P.O.D. stands for poems on demand. This is your opportunity to commission a bespoke and unique poem for a friend, lover, family member, colleague, team, community member or neighbour to mark or celebrate any occasion. I will write your poem based on your wishes and instructions. P.O.D. began as a way of using my skills to fundraise for Plan UK, a global children's charity during 2015-16 and resulted in nearly 30 commissions! As a poet, I enjoyed the process so much, I decided to keep on doing it!
How do I 'demand a poem' from you?
Simply complete the online form. I'll ask you for some essential information about your poem - subject, style, length - and the date you require it. I'll also ask you to give me some key information about the person/people/occasion it's for. If you have any special instructions, such as using found material or working from a photograph, just let me know in the Special Requests section on the form. And don't worry if you feel clueless or find poetry intimidating. I'll use poetic licence on your behalf!
How long will it take you to write the poem?
As long as possible to allow the poetic juices to flow and a minimum of three weeks - unless there are very special circumstances.
How much does a poem cost?
- between 5-12 lines £30
- 13-20 lines £50
- sonnet (14 lines for those in the know) £55
- 21+ lines - contact me for a quote
- low/no income - contact me to discuss a discount
How do I get hold of the poem?
I'll send you the poem in Word and pdf formats. Then you can do with it as you will, with the very small requirement that you include the standard credit (supplied). Obviously if you decide to project the poem on to the Angel of the North/House of Commons, I'd love a photo for my website!
Are you any good at writing poems?
I'm a published poet and I like to write individual poems for individual people. I'm as serious about ditties, odes and limericks as I am about free verse, terza rima and sonnets. All commissions considered!
